My Goal for 2017 is to Defeat Worry!

‘Worry’ by definition is an emotional state of feeling anxious about potential problems.

Worry brings me so much heavy, pressure and fear. Worry paralyses me, it builds up inside sometimes causing me to feel like I take on so much.

Sometimes, I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders for no reason. I get worked up and confused. I let the emotional and illogical fear of worry take over me. I place my trust in worry, I allow it to destroy my confidence.

I set unrealistic goals for myself, then I get worked up and disappointed when I cannot complete them.

This causes me not to be in the here and now. My mind usually drifts from one seemingly meaningless task to the other without me actually enjoying today, the here and now and ultimately the plan God has for my life.

The bible says not to worry about what the future holds. Jesus teaches us to have faith and strength in the Lord. I have often found that this means releasing and unloading my worries to Jesus Christ.

In Jeremiah 5:29 God says; “for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope [for the] future.” I cannot see into the future. But through God’s power and by the gift of his grace. He can help us find the root of our stress and allow us to take back some of the power that we allow ‘worry’ to have over our life.

If we continue to take the necessary steps; God can show us how we can actively change our mind set, clear the confusion and reduce our daily stress.

Jesus raised an important question in the bible “isn’t life more than food, and your body and more than clothing?”

As Humans, and more importantly Christians, Worry is pointless because Jesus asks the disciples; “can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”

Worrying about everyday life stifles growth, eliminates progress and hinders the plan God has for our lives.

This does not mean that we cannot do all we can to improve our situation. First, we must find the root to what makes us so worried. we can then Identify, what the steps are to readjust any stressful situation in our daily lives.

I for, one have often re-examined, re-evaluated and overthought certain situations to a point where I can feel mentally and physically drained.

I let what other people’s opinions, beliefs and Ideals take over and this hinders my ability to serve God, in the way that is most pleasing to him.

God tells us to “cast our cares upon him for he cares for all of us.” 1 Peter 5 NLT. This means that we can physically offload our worries and stresses onto him because he is our refuge, our strength and the healer of all of it.

Something, I have really had to learn is to release the unnecessary burden and irrational fear of worry in my life.

I’m constantly trying to manage things outside of my control. I worry about what the future holds for me. I worry about the well-being of my family and friends. I worry so much to the point where I feel like I am not good enough.

I feel like I am not worthy of all the things, God says I can receive.

It is exhausting. I cannot do these things alone without the help of God and his word. I need to apply all of what God teaches me about Worry and actively find out the root of my irrational fear.

Instead of asking why, I should let “Jesus take the Wheel” as the Carrie Underwood song goes. I must remember that he is my Lord and saviour.

By being Humble and faithful to God. I cannot control and change everything without his help. Philippians 4:13 says I can do all things through God’s strength in me.

This means, if I maintain my relationship with God and his glory while surrounding myself with positive and uplifting people. I will be able to achieve my goals and persevere and soon the phrase “don’t worry” will feel reassuring enough.

My issues with America Part one : Gun Control

America has been the major news headline again this week and last as another mass shooting or massacre has rocked the great nation. I have always wondered why America has always been the fore front of gun violence and has always had the most cases of mass shootings.

I did some research into gun laws myself and I found out that since 1791 every citizen of the United states of America has the right to bear arms (own a gun ) according to the US Bill of Rights, and the second amendment to the United States Constitution. The country's supreme law.

So basically owning a gun is a legal right and this perse isn’t wrong or an issue in its own right, as guns are used in the army or police force for an example. "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That means that any one aged 18 and over can own a shot gun or a rifle, bought from a dealer in any state and over 21s can own handguns as well. The only exception to this rule is if you have been a convicted felon or have a history of mental illness or you are not a US citizen.

My issues is not that people have guns, That is a person’s personal choice, I believe everyone has the right to do something to protect their families or whatever the case maybe. My issue is that these guns are meant to be used as a safety precaution or as protection, for your family or your business but this is clearly not the case as history demonstrates.

The constitution states; a gun as being “being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms,” shall not be infringed. This last statement confusing “ It shall not be infringed “ so looked up the definition.

This made me realise that not only is it a right and a law of the land to own a gun for protection. It is also non-negotiable to change this law, meaning to go against this law is illegal. So that raises the question, is it even possible to restrict the gun laws in America? Or to own and use a gun for anything but safety and protection is illegal? Right?

The Orlando shooting was the worst mass shooting in Us History .

It is beyond reasonable doubt that gun violence in America – over the last 10 years has reached an all-time high , and just last week there was a gruesome shooting in Orlando where 49 people were killed (53 injured) at gay night club called “pulse” The assailant was 29 year old Omar Mateen . He was shot dead at the scene. It was believed though married and father to a three year old boy, He was a closet homosexual as he was a regular at the club and was often seen trying to “pick up men.” However his father Seddique Mateen; said he became very angry after seeing two men kissing in Miami.

He was also involved in an investigation in 2013, interviewed by the FBI, after he allegedly made “inflammatory comments to colleagues asserting ties to the so-called Islamic State group (IS).” It is also believed that he was very violent and mentally unstable according to his ex-wife ex-wife, Sitora Yusufiy, who claims he violently abused her for years and also in Orlando “The voice“ singer Christina Grimme was sadly killed by 27 year old gunman Kevin James Loibl; who then shot and killed himself right after.

Therefore what I don’t understand is, why these senseless killings still happen? why do I turn on the News and see the president of the united states; Barack Obama make a speech after speech about how “outraged” and “saddened” by this “act of terror” he is and even see him break down in tears because of this?

Yet Laws have not been changed or tightened to prevent all this bloodshed. Still congress or the supreme court refuse to change or restructure the laws president Obama , government officials and the media seem to blame “so called Islamic state” or “terrorists.” But I feel like it’s a bigger issue.

I blame the government as clichéd as that sounds its true. Government official sit back and watch the country dissolve into disarray, confusion and utter chaos as every week it seems a school is broken into and annihilated by a troubled teen, who bought his gun from a licensed gun range ; due to lack of through background checks.

Or a week night prayer meeting gets turned into bloody Sunday because a racist , sociopath guns down the pastor and other members of the congregation , leaving families robbed of loved ones who believed church could be a safe ,holy place, a place of sanctuary and Instead of a battle field and war ground of pain and suffering. The last place a church should be.

This is all because a conservative counsel man, woman or supreme judge exclaims that ; we all have the right to protection ( a cruel irony isn’t it ) through gun ownership because it says “It shall not be infringed”

I don’t know about you but, God forbid one of those so called government officials or gun ownership enthusiast or campaigners meets the mother of a shooting victim. The mother who said a casual goodbye to her son in the morning at the gates of school, who then receives that heart crushing, life changing and horrific news; that her son was shot at school,

by someone who bought a gun legally without having a background check. I would not want to be locked in a room with that mother whose son or daughter went to school and never came back.

So before you nod and agree and mutter a racist comment at that Muslim family and start blaming “so called Islamic state, “ISIS” or “terrorists.

Open your eyes and do your research; find out who is really to blame and who the terrorist really is. You might be utterly surprised.

Dear Mental Illness,

Who do you think you are? You have charged into my life; pretending you care about my well being; trying to consume, to drag me down. I know that, misery loves company. But no this is not acceptable.

How dear you confuse me? You don’t own me - God does, you cannot control me. You are playing tricks on me. I am not here to be messed around with. I deny your existence every day. You have been whispering in my ear; convincing me that you are my friend.

Trying to convince me that you will always be there for me - But you are not, God is there though (Not religion) . He is always there - you are a demon, sent to kill, steal and destroy. You have tried to convince me that I am not worthy of God’s love or of his mercy.

You have tried to tell me that I am useless, that I will never succeed; well shut up!

I will not surrender to your torture anymore.

I deny you and your existence; the power you (think) that you have in my life. Not any more; I know that you are their lurking in the shadows. You are playing tricks on me confusing; the Good with the evil in my life and I have had enough!

God has been here since day one; since before anyone knew you existed. He has remained the same.

In the beginning people believed, your name was Lucifer, Satan or the Devil. You have stirred strife, anguish and pain. You have ruined the lives of many, stolen joy and peace from their souls.

You have made me feel that I am not worthy of the God that I serve! I know who I am. I know what I stand for. I know that God is on my side. Yet you are there; in the wind, in the storm in the trials and tribulations, in the deepest darkest night when nobody is awake, but guess what? - I have had it with you.

You do not have a hold over my life; (or anyone else).you have no place here.

God has given me the strength to trample upon all snake and scorpions (physical and mental strength) and ability over all the power that the enemy possesses and I know that nothing will harm me. (Luke 10; 19.)

People believed long ago that your name was Lucifer, well it is not it is called Depression, Anxiety, Low mood, Paranoia, It causes a Lack of motivation, pain sorrow and death.

But know this? I have a surprise for you; an army, a new generation who will destroy you, Kill you with kindness and a love so huge you cannot begin to comprehend it.

It so exclusive and so powerful; it will knock you over with a feather so light, it will vanish your existence and do you know what it is called?

Love, Peace, joy , righteousness and self- control (Galatians 5:22). I know you have some people fooled. I know you have tried to confuse and uproot me , you have tried to shut me up and keep me down, But no more!

Righteousness will prevail ; who is going to kick you back to the pit where you belong. I am going to raise so much power and strength.

I am tossing and turning, meditating, calculating my next move. You have caused so much pain and suffering but I know that you are nothing but a thief here to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10)

But I have another source, a different weapon up my sleeve. His name is Jesus also Known as G.O.D (not cool) nothing new right?-

Wrong, Because you know what? If I'm praising him, trusting him to guide me down the right path ,rejoicing in him and focused on him- you can’t touch me. You cannot shake me, you cannot move me.

I am not a dumping ground, or a welcome mat. I will not be ignored. I am neutral. I'm confident, that I will not be silenced.

I'm untouchable, Yes I might fall down but I will get right back up again!

Poke me, go on - I dare you! I know the truth, I know my purpose in this life and whatever lays ahead. I am raising an army of Angels to defeat you, to beat you at your own game, I am guessing- you have heard it all before.
