Stop Making Stupid People Famous!
10:11Recently social media has been influencing an initiating the fame of certain individuals. Every time I check my timeline on Twitter all I see is #alexfromtarget, the boy who became an overnight internet sensation after a girl posted a photo of him. Or, how Kim Kardashian "broke" the internet after her racy photoshoot for "Paper magazine".
I mean isn't there more stimulating topics of conversation we can focus on other than "lets see which celebrities' nudes have been leaked today!" Sometimes I want to get a hold of today's generation and scream "you are behaving like a complete moron!" These are not the things we as young adults should be focused on, or the type of people we should aspire to be like. Celebrities posing nude for magazine covers only show the young, influential girls that look up to them that a sexy body can earn you stack of cash - and that's not what a role model should be. Our role models should be truly inspirational people, trying to make a difference in the world.
Take Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was refused education from the Taliban, but despite many threats from them she continued to pursue her goal and became the youngest ever person to win a Nobel Prize.
Angelina Jolie was made an honorary dame for her work against "sexual violence and UK foreign policy "(daily mail), and there are so many other amazing role models including these women who have made a substantial difference, and not just because of financial gain or superficial recognition.
Let me know your opinions and what I should discuss in my next post.
